I am continuing the sharing of the daily creative items that I am making. I am not sure if it is the items or mediums for week two but it was a bit harder to force myself to begin these projects. Once I had started though, I realized how enjoyable it can be using something to create outside my comfort zone.

Day eight was squirrel and I rolled acrylic paint. I have done a fair bit of painting on wood but I decided to use a 5X7 canvas that I had lying around. I sketched out the squirrel first then added the paint. I probably should have painted the background first but adding the black afterwards did work out ok.

Day nine was Nuthatch and I rolled grease pencil. We only have red or blue grease pencil so I decided to use the charcoal that I was supposed to use day one (I had used snow instead). Aside from being messy, charcoal is really nice to draw with and you can use a finger to lighten an area quite easily.

Day ten was skis and I rolled wax crayons. I wanted to make a scratch art picture. I coloured an 8.5X11 paper in strips of different coloured wax crayon. Next I painted over it with black acrylic paint with a drop of dish soap stirred in. Two layers of paint was enough to cover the crayon. I used a toothpick to draw in some skis and poles.

Day eleven was snow laden bird feeder and I rolled black pen.
Day twelve was chickadee and I rolled scrap fabric. After cutting out the fabric for my chickadee, I decided to combine the bird and bird feeder into one mixed media piece. I took a photo of the chickadee at the feeder and tried to recreate it. Here is my scrap fabric and pen on white cardstock.

Day thirteen was toboggan and I rolled puffy paint. My “puffy paint” idea was kiboshed due to the fact that we only had gel shaving cream in the house (you need foamy shaving cream, white glue and either paint or food colouring). I had started to build a wooden sleigh just after Christmas. This week I finished it and decided to paint it. That does mean that I have used acrylic paint twice now.

Day fourteen was heart and I rolled sunflower seeds. I decided to make some more birdseed cookie cutter decorations with gelatin and this time I used heart shapes. The smaller hearts from the silicone tray will be left out on the firepit wall as treats for our resident squirrel.

Trying to do something every day does get more difficult as the month goes on. I also made a 1,000 pc puzzle this week, we played a few games and we drove into town a couple of times for errands. Maybe working on the art motivates me to do other things that bring me enjoyment or just need to get done.
