I saw this wooden pumpkin on Pinterest and wanted to try something similar.

We have a lot of scrap wood in various sizes.
I found a longer piece of 2X2, two small 2X4 pieces and a piece of 2X6.
The piece of 2X6 was 4 3/4” and one of the 2X4’s was cut to 3 3/4”
I liked the staggered difference in size so I cut the other 2X4 the same.

To keep the same size difference, I cut the 2X2 into two pieces 2 3/4” each.

My plan was to paint it orange so I only sanded down rough edges.

I quite like the rustic look too; just leaving it as it is.

I made sure that the cut edges were up and therefore facing the correct direction.

Next I applied wood glue to all the pieces and clamped it to dry overnight.

I cut a piece of root branch that we had sitting around and glued it on using weldbond.

To finish it, I painted it and added a burlap ribbon bow to the top.

The wood grain came through the paint in a lot of areas giving it a rustic feel.

After I finished this pumpkin I saw another one posted on Pinterest with rounded corners so I will be trying that next.

Another great use for smaller scrap pieces of wood and an easy addition to your fall decor.
