Last year I put together a playlist of “new to me” Christmas music and shared it in my blog Listen to the Sounds of Christmas. My brother, Russell, put together a Spotify playlist of the songs (at the time I wasn’t sure how to go about it). Check it out if you didn’t get the chance last year.
I challenged myself to hunt out some more tunes for this Christmas. I feel the need to shake things up this year and put a bit more energy into my song choices. Some are secular and some are religious but all will have you wanting to move or tap your toe. There are great arrangements of old favourites and some unique songs with super vocals or instrumentation.
My favourites would be:
Christmas with You – Cochren & Co. The piano intro grabs you and sucks you right in.
Simple Song – Joshua Hyslop. Probably the slowest song on this playlist but I could listen to the guitar all day; the words like a mantra overtop.
The River – Robert Downey Jr. Yes, Ironman can sing!! Here is a clip of him singing it from his days acting on Ally McBeal. I own the Christmas CD from the show.
If you have time to listen to more than just these few, here is my whole playlist:
Some people choose to start listening to Christmas music as Advent begins.
This playlist would be great for anytime you need to be productive while creating, baking, decorating or wrapping gifts.
Merci, 😘
