The Craftiest Workshop

Halloween without little ones in the house is just not the same. I still buy treats and spend the early part of the evening answering the door and giving out treats but I miss the excitement of kids putting on costumes and getting ready to go out trick or treating. Our jack o lanterns have become a wooden pumpkin and some ceramic Halloween characters with tea light bulbs inside that I put on our front steps.

I enjoyed Halloween as a child. I remember going trick or treating with my younger brother.

One year we had a few friends over and had a Halloween party. Perhaps it was a year like this year when Halloween fell on a Saturday.

Oct. 31, 2020 will be a cold Halloween. We already have a good ground covering of snow so it will be icy and kids will have to wear snow gear under their costumes to stay warm. I imagine that it was cold the year this picture was taken based on how puffy we all look.

My kids also enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and going out trick or treating. The one thing that they did not enjoy was cleaning out the pumpkin. The look of distaste on his face says it all.

When the boys got past the trick or treating phase, they actually asked for pumpkins and wanted to carve them. Some years, depending on where we were living, we would go out to the field and pick our own.

I found these cute little Halloween booklets and made them each a small scrapbook of pictures of them in costumes, carving pumpkins and celebrating with friends.

Capturing moments in time are important and these are just a small memento to help them to remember Halloweens of years past.
