We have become quite averse to ordering out. Aside from birthdays, we rarely spend money on take out. Because of this, we find ways to make our own versions of things that we might have otherwise bought on Skip the Dishes. This easy to make pizza is one of them.
My husband does not like pizza crust. He prefers the thinnest crust you can get. I decided to start buying Naan bread after our trip to Egypt; we quite enjoyed it. I also noticed that it often ends up on the discount rack at the grocery store. It is easy to freeze and thaw and makes a great crust to create our own individual pizzas.
Ingredients
Naan bread (white or whole wheat)
Pasta sauce (pizza sauce or bbq sauce works too)
Cooked meat (ham, pepperoni, ground beef, chicken, bacon)
Cut up veggies and fruit (peppers, mushrooms, onion, avocado, pineapple)
Shredded cheese (we prefer three cheese)
Directions
Place Naan bread flat side up on baking sheet.
Spread on the sauce leaving a small edge all the way around.
Add your favourite meat toppings.
Add on your fruits and veggies.
Top with a generous amount of shredded cheese.
Place in a 225° oven just to reheat ingredients then broil until cheese is sufficiently melted.
Remove from oven, slice in four and enjoy.
One of my favourite versions is to use bbq sauce, chicken, avocado, red onion and mozzarella cheese.
The sky is the limit on topping choices and everyone can create their own customized pizza.
Never thought of using naan bread. Must try it. Thanks.
I too have used Naan bread for same.
I place them on a broiling rack, with a cookie sheet underneath.
