I think I discovered this recipe in a magazine that I found at an airport. I quickly jotted it into my notes on my IPad. The IPad that I had saved the recipe on started dumping things as it got close to memory capacity. One of the things that disappeared was this recipe.

This week, I was looking through my recipe box and discovered that I had been smart and copied the recipe at some point and stuck it in the box. I thought I had better share it on my blog so I am able to find it again; it really is my favourite apple crisp recipe.

Ingredients

3/4 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup oats

3/4 cup flour

1/2 cup melted butter or margarine

4 cups apples peeled, cored and diced (four really large apples)

1/4 cup white sugar

2 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp nutmeg

Directions

In a bowl, combine brown sugar, oats, flour and margarine/butter.

Place apples, white sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a large ziplock. Shake to combine.

In an greased 8×8 pan, put 1/2 the crumb mixture.

Put the apple mixture on top followed by the remaining crumb mixture.

Bake at 350° for 40-45 min.

You can also make this and freeze it before cooking.

To cook from frozen, bake at 375° for 45-60 minutes.

It will be ready when bubbling and the top is browned.

Add a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream and enjoy my favourite apple crisp.
