My original thought was to use the different coloured hats as an Early Learning resource for colour recognition using a song or with a book.
Materials
Toilet paper roll
yarn
Instructions
Cut a 1/2 inch strip off of the toilet roll
Cut a 10 inch piece of yarn and fold it in half. Place the loose ends under the tp roll slice.
Pull the loose ends up and over the tp roll and through the loop.
Pull tight and knot on the outside of the tp roll.
Cut 25-30 pieces of yarn depending on its thickness and continue tying as above all the way around until you cannot see through.
Push the yarn pieces through the middle of the hat.
Tie a knot to create the top of the hat.
Cut off yarn ends leaving just enough to create pom pom top.
Fluff ends.
I realized that these hats can have a piece of yarn tied to the top and it makes them an ornament on their own.
If you make a pom pom out of white or grey yarn and add a wooden bead, you can make yourself a cute gnome ornament.
Visit my blog on making pom pom animals to see an easy way to make a pom pom.
Making these cute little yarn hats is quite relaxing and a great way to use up leftover yarn.
A lovely addition to any Christmas tree or Early learning plan.
Great ideas for young families! 👍
