I was craving some french toast the other day.
I saw a post on facebook for Cinnamon french toast in a mug and thought I would give it a try.
First mix together the egg, milk, syrup and cinnamon.
I decided to use a wide microwave safe ceramic bowl.
Remove the crusts from one piece of bread. I just used what I had…Dempster’s Whole Wheat.
Add the bread making sure to wet all the pieces.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Cook on high for two minutes, 30 seconds at a time with a 10 second rest.
My first bowl I stirred after each 30 seconds; the second bowl I only paused for ten seconds.
They turned out pretty much the same.
I added some whipped cream right away and it turned to liquid.
You might want to wait a few minutes if you like your whipped cream to stay thick.
I am thinking of trying frozen raspberries instead of chocolate chips and maybe some no sugar jam instead of syrup to reduce the sugar.
We had these for brunch and they were very yummy.
They were quite sweet and more like bread pudding than french toast.
A nice idea for a quick dessert.
Sounds like an easy desert,!
This sounds like a very very tasty desert. Using no-sugar jam would help for Norm’s diabetes. Thanks for sharing.
