When my children were young, I decided to create Easter hunts for them. I had puzzles for them to figure out and clues to find the different stashes of eggs. I remember how much fun they had going around trying to figure out the puzzles and then find the prizes.

I have the opportunity this Christmas to do something similar for our two nieces. I think they will enjoy the challenge. I looked on Pinterest to find some Christmas related challenges and puzzles for them and their parents to complete/figure out. I will also hide 12 small prizes in our house and on our acreage; one for each puzzle completed.

I thought I would share a couple of the puzzles with you. I figure, if they see this ahead of time, they can just get a jump on these two puzzles.

Many of you are very familiar with Christmas carols. I wonder how many of these you can figure out. There were a few of the titles that I did not know the tune of, yet alone the words.

Here is another that I had to really think about to be able to finish it.

This is different from the one I gave as a challenge but the idea is the same.

Draw a Snowman Game

Give everyone a piece of paper and something to draw with.

One person reads out the instructions while everyone else draws with their eyes closed.

Instructions:

  1. Draw a line to represent the ground.
  2. Draw three circles for a snowman body
  3. Draw a tree to the left of your snowman.
  4. Draw three buttons on your snowman’s middle circle.
  5. It is snowing, draw some snowflakes in the sky.
  6. Draw a hat on your snowman.
  7. Draw a sled to the right of your snowman.
  8. Draw a face on your snowman; eyes, carrot nose and mouth
  9. Give your snowman branches for arms.
  10. It is night time, draw a crescent moon in the sky on the top of the middle of the paper

Pass your drawing to the left and let your neighbour score it

Points:

10 points if your snowman is sitting on the ground.

10 points if your snowman circles are touching each other.

10 points if your tree is not touching your snowman.

10 points if your buttons are on the middle circle of your snowman.

1 point for each snowflake you drew that does not touch any other part of your drawing.

20 points if the hat is on the head of your snowman.

10 points if your sled does not touch your snowman.

20 points if your snowman’s face is on its head

10 points if the arms are on both sides of the snowman.

10 points if your moon is centered on your paper

They say that experiences are the best gift you can give to create lasting memories.

I hope that the 12 Puzzles of Christmas is an experience to remember.
