This journey really is a change for me. I am a fairly private person; not one to share my life with the world. Yet, here I am writing a blog that anyone can read. I suggest that my pallet has changed. Different things get me through each day and make me feel alive and productive. Ironically it all began with a huge stack of pallets.
Last fall, my husband’s place of work was getting rid of pallets. They were going to be burned unless someone wanted to take them. He volunteered to take them, borrowed a trailer and brought them home. More than thirty pallets were stacked in front of our garage and remained there through the cold and snow of last winter.
Spring came and, with the warmer weather, my eldest son was able to start dismantling some of the pallets. Using pry bars and a hammer, he was able to separate some of the pallets and remove the nails. My husband got smart and researched a better method of getting the pallets broken down. He bought a stronger blade for his reciprocating saw and proceeded to cut off the boards one by one. It was much easier and faster. Soon the pile of pallets was gone and the pallet wood stacked neatly on a steel shelf in the garage and organized by size and wood type.
I give the history of this because, without the free pallet wood sitting in our garage, I would not have ventured into building things this past summer. Most of my projects have been created since I was laid off from my job due to COVID and most of them have been made using either scrap wood or pallet wood. Here are some examples.
Going forward with this blog, I plan to break down the process of doing a craft at least in pictures if not eventually video. Recipes and materials list will be AT THE TOP of my blog posts instead of at the bottom…a pet peeve of mine.
I am not sure of a timeline for how often I will post at this time but hoping for at least once per week.
If you have any questions about the crafts above, don’t hesitate to ask. Others that I have not included, will be on blog separate blog posts.
You have made some lovely projects. I particularly like the Nativity scene!! 😊
